Yuandu Liu Bao Tea from the 2000s – A Rare Collector's Vintage
Cha Zhi Ji’s Yuandu Liu Bao from the 2000s is a classic representation of aged Liu Bao tea, processed using the traditional double-steamed and double-compressed technique. The dry leaves are glossy and dry to the touch, dark brown with reddish hues, and tightly rolled with visible buds. It exudes a sweet, toasty aroma of rice grains.
The brewed liquor is amber red, bright and clear. Decades of natural aging have mellowed the taste – the tea is smooth and full-bodied, yet clean and vibrant. Later steeps reveal notes of honey and a lingering sweet aftertaste. This tea is highly infusible, refreshing, and richly layered.
In traditional Liu Bao classification, “Yuandu” (original grade) refers to tea made with a standard of one bud and one to two leaves, representing a high-quality selection before large-scale standardization. This vintage version, aged naturally since the 2000s, reflects the authentic depth and elegance treasured by collectors.

This 2000s Yuan Du Liu Bao is a remarkable journey for the senses. At first sip, it retains a subtle, youthful astringency (Qing Se), but this quickly vanishes, transforming into a clean, melting sweetness that lingers beautifully on the palate.
The true power of this tea lies in its Ti Gan (body sensation). By the third cup, a distinct warmth begins to radiate across the back, signaling its deep energy and "Qi." It is incredibly grounding and resonant, offering a rare balance between its aging potential and its current vigor. For any connoisseur, this is a highly collectible gem that truly rewards the patient drinker.
it is especially pleasant to immerse yourself in it in rainy cool weather, the feeling is like wrapping yourself in a warm blanket
after many brew it still lingering with sweet aftertaste
This is one of my favorite Liu Bao teas. It has retained a very unique and pleasant character that I regularly crave. This tea feels and tastes like medicine. Very happy this tea comes in 500g bags as it will go quickly.
